Rainbow Wahine Begin 2010 Season with National Power California

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will start its season against nationally ranked California and Western Athletic Conference opponent Nevada. The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a 13-13 record last season and are looking to compete for the Western Athletic Championship this year.
 
The Rainbow Wahine return five members from last season—sophomores Aglae Van den Bergh, Alyssa Nafarrete, and Dasha Lagmay, junior Natasha Zorec, and senior Sophie Kobuch. Kobuch, who is a two-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection, went 18-12 overall and 16-8 in dual matches last year.
 
UH also features five new players this season, freshmen Maraike Biglmaier, Mari Tadaki, Katarina Poljakova and Alison Gobel. The lone sophomore is Barbara Pinterova a transfer from the University of Florida has shown great potential during the fall season.
 
The California Golden Bears are led by Jana Juricova who is ranked No. 2 and Marina Cossou who is ranked No.10 by the latest ITA Rankings. As a team, the Golden Bears are ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Nevada Wolf Pack are ranked No. 67 by the ITA Rankings.
