Warrior Golf Returns To The Course At The Amer Ari Invitational

The University of Hawai'i men's golf team hits the course for the first time in three months to begin its spring season at the Amer Ari Invitational, Feb. 3 through 5, at the Mauna Lani Resort North Course in Kohala Coast, Hawai'i.

The tournament will be co-hosted by Hawai'i and Hawai'i-Hilo with 22 teams competing. The field includes Arizona State, Cal State East Bay, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Oregon State, Rhode Island, San Francisco, San Jose State, Sonoma State, Stanford, Texas, Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Washington, UC Davis, UCLA, and USC.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on a par-72 course checking in at 6,601 yards. Participating individuals will play 18 holes each day.

In last year's tournament, previously known as the UH-Hilo Invitational, the Warriors finished in 17th place with a 947 total (314-328-305). Sophomore #T.J. Kua# led UH with a 229 finish (76-81-72) and a tie for 60th place. Fellow sophomores Pono Calip (79-82-78=239) and Jared Sawada (81-85-74=240) were the team's next highest finishers, earning a tie for 87th place and 89th place respectively. 

USC is the defending team champion, having ran away with last year's title by finishing with an 11-stroke lead over runner-up Washington.
