Rainbow Wahine Golf Opens Spring Season At Stanford

Tournament Notes

The University of Hawai'i women's golf team begins their spring season by competing in the Peg Barnard Invitational, Feb. 13 through 14, at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

The tournament is held in honor of Peg Barnard, a tireless fundraiser for women's athletics at Stanford before the women's and men's programs merged in the late 1970's.

The 11-team field includes host Stanford, California, Fresno State, Hawaii,  Long Beach State, Oregon, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Texas, UC Davis, and Washington.

Participants will play two rounds, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, and compete on a par-71 course checking in at 6,092 yards.

In 2008 tournament, the Rainbow Wahine took tenth place with a 624 two-round total (312-312). Top finisher for UH was senior Corie Hou (74-76=150) who tied for 11th place. UH did not participate in last year's tournament.
