Warrior Golf Opens Play At John Burns Intercollegiate

Round 1 Results

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a 293 (+5) in the first round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Wednesday. Hosting the highly competitive tournament at the Leilehua Golf Course, the Warriors are currently tied for tenth in the 15-team field.
 
Leading UH in a tie for ninth is freshman Cory Oride at two-under, 70, tying his career-low round. One stroke back is sophomore #T.J. Kua# in a tie for 19th (71). Also competing for the Warriors are junior Kamden Brakel (74/T48th), sophomore Jared Sawada (78/T73rd), and sophomore Pono Calip (85/83rd).
 
Participating as individuals are freshmen Henry Park (75/T55th) and Alex Chu (76/T65th).
 
Southern Methodist and California are currently tied for first with a 278 (-10). Both teams will have a one-stroke lead over UNLV going into the second round. Individually, Stephen Hale of California leads after firing a seven-under, 65.
 
The tournament continues Thursday with the second round before concluding Friday with the third and final round.
