Men’s Swimming And Diving Open Conference USA Championships In Third

Day 1 Results

HOUSTON – The University of Hawai'i men's swimming and diving team opened the Conference USA Championships in third place following action Wednesday at the CRWC Natatorium on the University of Houston campus.

SMU leads the event after day one with 113 points, followed by Cal State Bakersfield with 90 points. Hawai'i sits in third with 88 points, while North Dakota (60) is in fourth and East Carolina (46) is in fifth.

The Rainbow Warriors finished in second in the 800-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Vlad Anastasescu, Lazar Bogdanovski, James Clarke and Mark Higley posting a time of 6:33.00.

UH diving had a strong day, finishing second and third in the 1-meter final. Douglas Cohen placed second with a score of 309.80, while Thomas Rugg finished third with a score of 285.

Action continues Thursday at the Conference USA Championships and runs through Saturday.
