Rainbow Wahine Water Polo Faces No. 3 UCLA In Home Opener

Match Notes

HONOLULU – The fifth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team returns home after a long road trip, to face No. 3 UCLA on Saturday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. Admission is free.

After dropping their first two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation matches of the season, the Rainbow Wahine will be looking for their first conference victory against UCLA on Saturday.

UH will face USC for a second time in an exhibition match the following week. The Rainbow Wahine, who fell to the Trojans 14-7 last week, are to play on Wednesday March 17 at 4:00 p.m.

Last season, the Rainbow Wahine blew out Arizona State 11-5 in their home-opener but fell short to the Trojans 7-6 that same week.

UH Moves To Fifth In CWPA Poll
After taking three victories out of five matches this past road trip, the Rainbow Wahine have moved up from sixth to fifth in the Mar. 3 College Water Polo Association poll. Previously, Michigan held the No. 5 spot above the Rainbow Wahine but this week have dropped back down to No. 8, falling behind seventh-ranked San Jose State and sixth-ranked Arizona State. Another big movement in the poll includes USC bumping Stanford from the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. Ranked just above UH is No. 4 California and No. 3 UCLA.
