2010 Warrior Football Schedule Announced

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i announced its 2010 football schedule, which again features seven home games, including a season-opener against perennial national contender USC.

The schedule includes five bowl teams from last season: Boise State (Fiesta), Fresno State (New Mexico), Idaho (Humanitarian), Nevada (Hawai'i) and USC (Emerald). For the third-straight year UH will have six road games, including two of its first three contests.

The Warriors will play their first four games against non-conference opponents before opening Western Athletic Conference play on Oct. 2. Unlike recent schedules, UH will not enjoy an early-season off-week, playing 10-straight games before receiving a bye in mid-November.

Hawai'i begins the 2010 season at home on Thursday, Sept 2, against USC in a nationally televised game on ESPN at 5:00 p.m. (HT). It is the second time in the last five years UH will open the year against USC on national TV. UH also hosted the defending national champion Trojans in the 2005 opener.

The Warriors will then play their next two games on the road with back-to-back non-conference games at Army (Sept. 11) and Colorado (Sept. 18). The game against Army in West Point, N.Y.—the first of a four-game, home-and-home series—will be the furthest trip East in school history. The Warriors will then travel to Boulder for a meeting with Colorado and the start of another four-game, home-and-home series.

After a home game against FCS school Charleston Southern (Sept. 25), the Warriors will start conference play at home on Oct. 2 against Louisiana Tech. Other WAC teams on the home slate are Nevada (Oct. 16), Idaho (Oct. 30) and San Jose State (Nov. 20). Hawai'i will face Fresno State (Oct. 9) Utah State (Oct. 23), defending league-champion Boise State (Nov. 6), and New Mexico State (Nov. 27) on the road.

UH closes out the regular season with a home game against UNLV on Dec. 4, the third meeting between the teams in the last four years.
