Ricketts Earns Second WAC Pitcher of the Week Honor This Season

DENVER –Hawai`i's Stephanie Ricketts was named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 22-28. This is her second honor of the season and fourth of Ricketts' career.

Ricketts, a sophomore from San Jose, Calif., went 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA in two complete games against San Jose State last week. She pitched 17.0 innings, allowing just three runs, one earned with eight strike outs. In the WAC opener, she threw a season-high 10 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) in UH's longest game of the season. Ricketts was one out away from a complete game shutout in the series finale, but an error in the seventh led to SJSU's only run of the game. She was able to hold the hot-hitting Spartans to a .175 average through the two games.

Overall, Ricketts is 11-6 with 14 complete games and an ERA of 2.36 in 121.2 innings.

This marks the fifth time a Rainbow Wahine has earned the WAC's weekly award this season. Ricketts' has earned the award twice (Week 4 and Week 7); freshman centerfielder, Kelly Majam, was named the WAC's Hitter of the Week twice (Week 2 and Week 6); and freshman pitcher, Kaia Parnaby, was selected in Week 2.

Hawai'i travels to the mainland this week for a pivotal roadtrip in which they will play three, three-game series in three different states in eight days. The 'Bows begin the trip at New Mexico State (Apr. 3-4) before heading to Utah State for a mid-week match-up (Apr. 6-7). UH then finishes their second roadtrip of the year at Boise State.
