HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i high jumper Amber Kaufman continued her assault of the school's track and field record book by breaking the 27-year old Clarence T.C. Ching Field record during this weekend's Rainbow Relays.

Kaufman won the event with a jump of 6-1.25 (1.86m), breaking the previous mark of 6-1 (1.85m) set by Canada's Debbie Brill in 1983.

Normally Kaufman does not compete in the school's all-comer Sunset Series, which the Rainbow Relays is a part of, but did so this weekend since the event included a dual meet with Sacramento State. The Hornets won the head-to-head competition, 126-76.

Kaufman holds both indoor and outdoor UH records in the high jump and heading into this weekend has the top mark in the country at 6-3.25 (1.91m) set at the Stanford Invitational.

Other notable performances this weekend included Lauren Cutler's personal best in the javelin. The sophomore from Templeton, Calif., threw 142-2 (43.34m) to finish runner-up to Sac. State's Emily Kersting (148-4/45.21m).

Sophomore TeRina Keenan also posted a PR in the shot put with a heave of 44-9.75 (13.66m) to go along with her first place finish in the discus at 162-9 (49.62m). Freshman Samantha Balentine ran a career-best 26.93 in the 200-meter dash.

The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., next weekend.
