Box Score

HONOLULU – Behind a complete-game shutout performance by Alex Capaul, the University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (17-15, 1-3 WAC) beat to the Fresno State Bulldogs (20-13, 3-1) 4-0 in front of a sold out crowd of 4,417 at Les Murakami Stadium Sunday. Capaul (5-1) got the victory while Charlie Robertson (2-2) took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Capaul scattered seven hits in the game and was aided by David Freitas catching two runners attempting to steal and three double plays. He ended up with five strikeouts and just one walk on the outing.

Kolten Wong went 1-for-2 with one RBI, two runs, two walks and a stolen base. Collin Bennett was 1-for-3 with two RBI and Greg Garcia went 2-for-5 with a run. Christian Johnson was 2-for-3 while Matt Roquemore went 1-for-5 with a run.

The 'Bows struck early, scoring two runs on a single by Bennett with the bases loaded. Wong then added a RBI-single in the bottom of the second before scoring the final run of the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth.

Meanwhile, Capaul was able to keep the Bulldogs at bay. He faced only 30 batters during the game, only three over the minimum. Only three Fresno State runners made their way into scoring position, including two in the ninth inning.

Hawai'i will next head out for a long road trip, playing nine games on the road between California and Louisiana. UH starts the trip with a four-game series at Sacramento State from Apr. 16-18.
