DENVER – University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball sophomore
Matt Sisto earned Verizon Wireless WAC Pitcher of the Week honors for April 26-May 2, announced Monday.
Sisto pitched 5.1 shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out five to get the win in UH's 1-0 victory over Nevada in the second game of its May 1 doubleheader. Sisto retired 12 of 13 batters between the second and sixth innings, posting four three-batter innings between the third and sixth stanzas.
Sisto picks up the Rainbows' sixth WAC Pitcher of the Week award this season with
Lenny Linsky winning one and
Josh Slaats taking home four awards.
New Mexico State's Leo Aguirre was named the WAC Hitter of the Week.
The Rainbows have the week off from competition before hosting their final home series against WAC-leading New Mexico State May 13, 14 and 16.
