All-MPSF Teams Release
HONOLULU – The fifth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team had four players earn all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning.
UH sophomore attacker
Monika Eggens was named to the all-MPSF first team, while juniors
Carmen Eggens and
Leonie Van Der Molen were named to the second team. Freshman
Amarens Genee was named to the all-freshman team.
Monika Eggens led the MPSF in scoring, averaging 2.30 goals per game and totaling 53 goals in 23 games.
Monika Eggens was also named to the MPSF All-Tournament team, finishing the tournament third in goals scored with seven.
Monika Eggens was named to the all-freshman team last season.
Van Der Molen was named to the second team for the first time in her career. Last season Van Der Molen was named honorable mention and her first year she was named to the all-freshman team. Van Der Molen finished eighth in the conference in scoring, despite missing the final four games due to injury.
Carmen Eggens was named to the second team, her second career honor after being named to the all-freshman team two years ago.
Carmen Eggens finished 10
th in scoring, averaging 1.61 goals per game.
Freshman
Amarens Genee was named to the all-freshman team, finishing the season strong with five goals in three games at the MPSF Tournament. Genee's all-freshman team honor gives UH a player on the all-freshman team for the sixth straight year.
