Women’s Sailing Has Strong Showing At Bryson Intersectional

Fleet Racing Results

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing squad competed in its first team event of the year at the Bryson Women's Intersectional, hosted by Stanford, Oct. 2-3.
 
The regatta included seven school competing in two separate events – fleet racing and team racing. The Rainbow Wahine finished in third place in the fleet racing portion on Saturday, while finishing runner-up in the team race on Sunday. Host Stanford captured both events.
 
Sailing for the Rainbow Wahine were Hannah Tuson-Turner, Hanne Nagatani, Madeline Kennedy, Taylor Nidds and Holly Nishiguchi. Tuscon-Turner and Nagatani captured the A division in Saturday's fleet racing. The pair finished with 27 points, three points ahead of their nearest competitors. UH totaled 80 points overall, 33 points behind first-place Stanford.
 
On Sunday the Rainbow Wahine gave another strong showing in team racing finishing in a tie for first place with five wins after round-robin action. UH, however, fell to the Cardinal in a sail-off.
 
Next up for the women's team is the PCCS Women's Fall Championships, Oct. 30-31, in Mission Bay, Calf.
