Men's Basketball Continues Homestand Against Northwestern State

Game Notes
Jeremy Lay drives past College of Charleston 2009

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team will play its fourth game in seven days when it hosts Northwestern State in a non-conference game, Monday, Dec. 28. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Last week, UH (6-6) played host to the inaugural Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic and finished with a 1-2 record. The Rainbow Warriors opened the eight-team tourney with a 13-point win over College of Charleston but then suffered losses to nationally ranked UNLV and Saint Mary's. Guard Dwain Williams earned all-tournament team honors after leading all scorers with 67 points for a 22.3 point average. The Providence College transfer scored 11 against Charleston, 20 versus UNLV, and a tournament-high 36 points against Saint Mary's, the highest output by a Rainbow Warrior this season and the seventh highest total in Stan Sheriff Center history.

Monday's game marks the final non-conference game for the 'Bows before beginning Western Athletic Conference play later this week. Hawai'i has played host to the Demons three previous times - all resulting in UH victories - including an 89-78 in 2006 the last time the two teams met.

Northwestern State (5-5) has not played since a Dec. 19 victory over Missouri Valley, which snapped two-game losing streak. The Demons boast three players who average double figure points - guard Damon Jones (14.9 ppg), guard Devon Baker (12.6), and guard Dominic Knight (10.4) - although Baker is listed as questionable for Monday's game.
