The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team will make its first Western Athletic Conference road trip of the season and will play away from the Stan Sheriff Center for the first time in more than a month. First up is Fresno State, Saturday, Jan. 9 with a 7:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. HT tip-off at the Save Mart Center.
The 'Bows (8-7, 1-1 WAC) split their WAC opening series last week, falling to Idaho, 59-52, and defeating Boise State, 76-68, both at the Stan Sheriff Center. Center
Paul Campbell averaged 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in the two games, while
Roderick Flemings led the 'Bows to a victory over the Broncos with a 20-point effort.
The Bulldogs (8-7, 1-0) won their WAC-opener, a 71-68 victory over Boise State, in a game in which they erased an eight-point halftime deficit and needed a pair of three-point plays by Paul George in the final minute to secure the victory. George finished with 21 points for the Bulldogs, who are 6-2 at home this season, with their only losses to San Diego State and nationally ranked Brigham Young.
UH has played only one road game this season, falling to UC Irvine, 80-70. However, the 'Bows have found relative success in Fresno in recent years, winning two of the last three meetings at the Save Mart Center. UH won both regular season games against the Bulldogs last season, including a 73-69 win in Fresno, but FSU won the third meeting, eliminating the 'Bows from the WAC Tournament, 62-58, in a opening round game.
The Bulldogs lead the overall series 23-16, including a 14-4 edge in Fresno.
