Men’s Basketball Concludes WAC Road Trip At Utah State

Game Notes

Jeremy Lay drives ball past Northern Colorado
LOGAN, Utah - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team concludes its first Western Athletic Conference road trip of the season by travelling to Utah State, Monday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. MT/4:05 p.m. HT at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.

The 'Bows (8-8, 1-2 WAC) are coming off a 78-64 loss at Fresno State on Saturday. UH fell behind by 18 at the half in part due to a six-minute scoring drought and 12 unanswered Fresno State points. The Bulldogs closed out the half with a 19-5 run and capitalized on 15 Hawai'i turnovers with 24 points. UH's leading scorer Roderick Flemings scored all 13 of his points in the second half after sitting on the bench for most of the first half in foul trouble. Jeremy Lay came off the bench and scored a team-high 14 points.

The Aggies (10-6, 0-2 WAC) have not played since last Monday and dropped their WAC opening series to New Mexico State (55-52), Jan. 2, and Louisiana Tech (82-60), Jan. 4, both on the road. USU, the defending WAC champion and preseason favorite, is 0-2 to start league play after finishing the non-conference schedule with an 8-4 record, which included a 71-61 home win over nationally-ranked Brigham Young in December.

The Aggies swept the season series a year ago - 67-51 in Honolulu and 82-62 in Logan. USU leads the all-time series, 8-4, including a 6-1 advantage in Logan. The Aggies have won all four games against the 'Bows in Logan in WAC play. Hawai'i's only win at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum was an 85-74 victory during the 2004 National Invitation Tournament.
