BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team is ranked No. 4 in the CWPA Division I Top 20 poll, voted on by national coaches and released today by the Collegiate Water Polo Association.
Stanford is ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll, followed by USC at No. 2 and UCLA No. 3. Following UH at No. 4 is California at No. 5 and San Jose State at No. 6.
The Rainbow Wahine finished ranked No. 4 in last season's poll after finishing fourth at the NCAA Championships. UH went 19-10 in 2009 and return five starters from a year ago.
UH begins the regular season at the California Tournament on Jan. 29 in Berkeley, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will hold their annual alumnae game on Jan. 16 at 12 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
