HONOLULU – A total of 19 teams representing 13 schools competed in the 2010 Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite Jan. 16-17 at Keehi Lagoon with Stanford capturing both the coed and women's classes. In the overall competition, the Cardinal coed squad totaled 116 points for the weekend, just six points ahead of runner-up Salve Regina out of Rhode Island.

Eleven races in each the A and B divisions were completed during the two-day event, named after former Rainbow sailor Peter Wenner, who tragically lost his life in a recreational boating accident in November 2008.  The host University of Hawai`i Rainbow sailing team fielded three teams in all, including two coed and one women's team.

UH Rain, headed by William Petersen, Tahnee Allman, Zachary Hester and Darla Baldwin, was the top finisher for UH with 157 points, good for fourth place. The Rainbow Wahine squad of Hannah Tuson-Turner, Hanne Nagatani, Jaclyn McLoughlin, and Jessi Locke finished ninth overall and second among the women with 216 points. Stanford paced five women's teams with 202 points.

The coed team next competes in the Jeremy McIntyre Team Race in California, March 6-7 in California. The Rainbow Wahine, meanwhile, are back in action in the South Florida Women's Intersectional, Feb. 20-21.
