HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine opened their conference play with a tough loss the Nevada Wolf Pack, who are ranked No.67 by the ITA Rankings. The Wahine go to (0-2) overall and (0-1) in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Rainbow Wahine dropped two of the three doubles matches and broke even in singles play. Sophomores
Alyssa Nafarrete and
Barbara Pinterova won their doubles match in dominating fashion, over Maria Mizyuk and Caroline Stevens at the No.2 position.
In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine claimed courts 1, 2 and 4. UH senior
Sophie Kobuch defeated Maria Mizyuk 7-5, 7-6 meanwhile, sophomore
Barbara Pinterova took her match against Florence De Vrye to the limit. Pinterova was able to squeeze out a victory with a score of 6-4, 5-7, (10-6).
Up next for the Rainbow Wahine is a seven-game road trip beginning with a match at Santa Clara on Jan. 25.
