Men's Volleyball Continues Road Trip With Series Against Pacific

Match Notes

The No. 9 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will look to bounce back from consecutive straight-set losses to third-ranked Stanford with a two-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation series against Pacific, Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Wednesday, Jan. 20. Both matches will be played at the Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton, Calif.

This week's matches will be a homecoming of sorts for UH head coach Charlie Wade, who spent the past three seasons as the head coach of the Pacific women's volleyball team. In addition, UH associate coach Dan Fisher played for the Tigers from 1998-99.

The Warriors (2-3, 0-2 MPSF) dropped their conference-opening series to No. 3 Stanford last week, falling in three sets in each match. Opposite Jonas Umlauft led Hawai'i with 11 kills each night and averaged 3.67 kills per set during the series. Outside hitter Steven Hunt sparked the Warriors off the bench and averaged 3.25 kills per set and hit .391.

The Tigers (4-2, 0-2) also dropped a two-match MPSF series to No. 5 BYU - each in straight sets - that extended their conference losing streak to 38 matches dating back to 2008. UOP is 1-0 at home this season, defeating UC Santa Cruz in its season-opener.

Hawai'i leads the all-time series over the Tigers, 34-1. Its only loss occurred in 1997 and since then, the Warriors have reeled off 24 straight wins.
