Game Notes

Bob Nash makes the call
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team concludes its three-game Western Athletic Conference homestand with a showdown against Louisiana Tech, Saturday, Jan. 23. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Warriors (9-10, 2-4 WAC) split the first two games of the homestand with both games providing high drama. UH started with a 68-67 win over San Jose State on Sunday night as Hiram Thompson sank two free throws with 2.1 seconds left to lift UH to the victory. In their last outing Thursday night, the 'Bows were on the receiving end of a 71-69 loss to New Mexico State after a Jahmar Young jumper with 0.9 second left. With a 2-4 mark, Hawai'i currently sits in seventh place in the WAC.

Louisiana Tech (17-3, 5-1 WAC) comes to Hawai'i following its first conference loss of the season at San Jose State, 87-76 on Thursday. The loss snapped a 10-game win streak for the Bulldogs who dropped into a first-place tie with New Mexico State.

The 'Bows swept the season series against Louisiana Tech last year with both games coming down to the final moments. UH won the first meeting 65-64 in Honolulu on a Bill Amis jumper with less than 10 seconds and stole a 54-53 win three weeks later in Ruston on a Petras Balocka tip-in at the buzzer.
