Rosenberg Bounced From Honolulu Challenger

WAIPIO, Oahu – University of Hawaii's men's tennis player Leo Rosenberg was outlasted by Kevin Kim 6-2, 6-4 in the round of 16 of the Honolulu Challenger, a USTA Pro Circuit event Thursday at the Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park Tennis Complex.
 
The No.2 seed Kim, ranked No. 108 in the world, moves on to the quarterfinals where he'll meet No. 5 seed Kevin Anderson of the Republic of South Africa. Rosenberg, meanwhile bows out after earning seven ATP points for advancing to the round of 16 in the inaugural event which features world-class professional tennis players ranked in the Top 200 as well as local and former collegiate players. Rosenberg, competing as an amateur, earned a wild card berth into the main draw after capturing the Honolulu Masters last October.
 
The sophomore now joins the rest of the team at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in California. The No. 42 Rainbow Warriors will face No. 4 UCLA on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 12:00 p.m. and either No. 17 Pepperdine or No. 37 South Florida on Sunday, Jan. 31.
