SAN FRANCISCO - The No. 42 University of Hawai`i men's tennis team continued it hot start with a 5-2 win over San Francisco Wednesday afternoon at the Olympic Club. The win was the Rainbow Warriors' (5-1) fifth in its first six matches of the season.
After dropping the doubles point, UH stormed through singles action with wins on all but one court.
Dennis Lajola,
Andreas Weber and
Leo Rosenberg all won in straight sets, and each ran their individual record to a perfect 5-0. Lajola battled past Thai Thu 7-5, 7-6, on the No. 1 court. Weber breezed past Rainer Nachbauer 6-2, 6-0 on court No. 2 and Rosenberg beat Ola Bakke on court No. 4, 6-3, 6-3.
Jeremy Tweedt and
Philipp Eberhard rallied for three-set victories, while UH's lone loss came on court No. 6 as
Daniel Llarenas fell to William Schumacher, 6-0, 6-1.
UH will next play at No. 9 Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1:00 p.m PT (11:00 a.m. HT).
