Day 2 Results
KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational, Thursday, at the Mauna Lani Resort North Course. Despite having improved their first-round score by nine strokes, the Warriors dropped one spot to sit in 17th place (311-302=613).
Still leading UH is sophomore #T.J. Kua# who remained consistent, carding a 74 for the second day in a row (74-74=148). Kua is currently tied for 26th at four-over par.
Each of the four remaining competing Warriors improved from the first round. Sophomore
Jared Sawada shaved four strokes off his score, carding a 74 and tying for 50th place (78-74=152). Junior
Kamden Brakel (78-76=154/T63rd) and freshman
Cory Oride (81-78=159/T91st) took two and three strokes off their scores, respectively. Finally, sophomore
Pono Calip shaved an impressive six strokes off his first-round score and is currently in 109th place.
Individually, Kevin Tway of Oklahoma State leads the field at four-under par (72-68=140). By firing a second-round 68, Tway, who began the day tied for 7th, shattered the five-way tie for first that existed at the end of Round 1.
Washington leads the team field at two-over par (291-287=578). UW will have a two-stroke lead over Stanford going into the final day.
The tournament concludes Friday with the third round beginning at 7:30 am.
