DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference today announced that the 2010 WAC Volleyball Tournament will return to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
“The 2009 WAC Volleyball Tournament was a huge success,” Commissioner Karl Benson said. “The Orleans Arena provided a great tournament environment for our student-athletes and fans and we expect another successful tournament there next November.”
The 2010 WAC Volleyball Tournament will be held Nov. 22-24 and will include the top six teams in the regular-season standings.
It will be the first of two WAC Tournaments to be held at the venue during the 2010-2011 school year, as the 2011 and 2012 WAC Basketball Tournaments will be held at the Orleans Arena, as well.
Two different teams – Hawai'i and Brigham Young – have claimed the WAC Volleyball Tournament title in the event's 12 years. The Rainbow Wahine own the most titles with 10, including the last 10 in a row.
The WAC Volleyball Tournament is a single-elimination event with the top two seeds receiving first-round byes and the champion earning the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The full schedule can be found below.
