Final Results
SEATTLE – The University of Hawai'i track and field team set eight personal bests, two seasonal bests, and one school record Saturday at the Husky Classic at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor.
Sophomore
Madara Apine, a Florida transfer, broke the school's indoor triple jump record and finished sixth with a mark of 40-1.5 (12.23m) easily surpassing the previous record of 39-9.24 (12.12m) set by Mallory Gilbert in 2008.
In other field events, newcomer
Samantha Balentine won her high jump section and tied for fifth overall with a clearance of 5-7.75 (1.72m). In the long jump,
Jamilee Jimenez set a new PR with a mark of 17-10.75 (5.45m) while
TeRina Keena bested her career mark in the shot put (40-6.25/12.25m).
A pair of Rainbow Wahine set new PRs in the pole vault. Newcomer
Karen Guravska cleared 11-4.25 (3.46m) and
Mallory Ramsey jumped 10-10.25 (3.31m).
Sophomore
Emma MacCorquodale placed second in her section and 11
th overall in the weight throw (53-0.25/16.16m).
On the track,
Jessica Forrester knocked off five seconds from her personal best in the mile, crossing the finish line in 5:14.09, while
Mariana Monasi dropped six seconds off her PR with a time of 5:14.98. In the 60-meter hurdles, Cecelia Durocher (9.31) and
Sarah Rutsch (10.40) also recorded new personal marks.
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the UW Indoor Open Sunday at Dempsey Indoor.
