DENVER – University of Hawai'i women's golfer
Corie Hou was named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for Feb. 8-14 after her performance at last weekend's Peg Barnard Invitational.
Hou, a senior from Clovelly, Australia (Randwick Girls HS), tied for fifth place at the tournament, which was hosted by Stanford. Hou carded an eight-over par 150 (73-77) to lead her teammates for the fourth consecutive tournament. Her 73 in the first round was her low of the season and fifth place individual finish is the best by any Rainbow Wahine during the 2009-10 season.
She also posted her sixth career Top 10 finish and fifth place showing was her best since tying for fourth at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational last season. For Hou, the award is the first of her career.
Hou and the Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational, March 8-9.
