Men’s Basketball Hosts Cal Poly In Non-Conference Action

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team steps out of league play when it hosts Cal Poly in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 20. Tip-off is 8:05 p.m. and will follow the UH-Louisiana Tech women's game at 5:00 p.m.

The teams were matched up as part of the ESPNUBracketBusters event. It is the fourth straight year that UH faces a Big West team from the BracketBusters pool. UH is 1-2 in its previous three meetings, winning at Long Beach State in 2007, losing at UC Riverside in '08 and losing to UC Irvine last season. Both teams come into the contest with identical 9-16 records and in dire need of a win. The Rainbow Warriors have lost seven straight games with their last win coming more than a month ago against San Jose State on Jan. 17. Cal Poly, meanwhile, has lost six of its last seven games.

The 'Bows will rely on senior Roderick Flemings who leads the team at 15.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg. The 6-7 Flemings is coming off a 25-point, 11-rebound performance in an 88-64 loss at New Mexico State on Monday, Feb. 15.

This will be the first of UH's final three home contests of the year. Following its game versus Cal Poly, the 'Bows will host a pair of critical Western Athletic Conference games versus Utah State (Feb. 25) and Nevada (Feb. 27).
