Women’s Tennis Falls To Sacramento State, 4-2

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team continued its four-match road trip through Northern California with a 4-2 loss to No. 46 Sacramento State Tuesday afternoon at the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center. The Rainbow Wahine fell to 1-7 on the year with their fifth straight road loss.

Five of UH's seven losses this season have come against ranked teams with the latest coming against the No. 46 Hornets. Due to inclement weather, doubles play was not contested as the teams went straight into singles competition. The Hornets (6-3) won four of six matches, with the pivotal match coming on the No. 1 court where Katrina Zheltova clinched the Hornets win by out-lasting UH's Barbara Pinterova 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

UH got a pair of victories from senior Sophie Kobuch and sophomore Aglae Van den Bergh. Van den Bergh powered past Zalina Nazarova, 6-1, 6-4, on Court No. 6, while Kobuch rallied past Tatsiana Kapshai, 7-6, 3-6, 7-5, at the No. 2 position.

The Rainbow Wahine continue their road trip with a match at No. 11 Stanford on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. PT (11:30 a.m. HT).
