SEATTLE REDHAWKS

Seattle University is in its first full season as a Division I team. The Redhawks currently have a 1-8 record overall. Head coach, Dan Powers is in his seventh season at Seattle, with a 186-119 career record.
The Redhawks are led by junior catcher, Jessica Amador, who is hitting .333 (8-for-24) with five runs scored, one home run, and a team-high two doubles. Senior outfielder Katie Antich is a lefty hitter who is second on the team with a .308 average and is 2-for-2 in stolen bases. Fellow senior, outfielder Katie Peterson has also gotten off to a hot start with a .292 batting average and a team-high seven RBI. She is one of seven Redhawks who have a home run this year.
The pitching staff is led by senior, Kelsey Reynolds (1-3) who has thrown a team-high 21.2 innings and has a 8.31 ERAwith five walks and nine strike outs. Hanna Klein is a sophomore who is 0-1 in six appearances and 18.1 innings pitched with a team-low 6.87 ERA, and freshman Jessica Ulrich is 0-4 with 15.2 innings pitched and a 8.62 ERA.
SERIES: This is the meeting between Hawai'i and Seattle.
EAST CAROLINA PIRATES
2010 RECORD: Overall 6-7/ Conference USA 0-0
East Carolina heads to Hawai'i with a 6-7 record overall. Although ECU has seven losses, three of those defeats were one-run losses to No. 3 Florida and another loss came from No. 11 Georgia Tech. The Pirates come to the Invitational on a four-game win streak, winning all of their games (Delaware, Towson, Morehead State, and Penn State) in their own Pirate Classic in Greenville, N.C. Head coach Tracey Kee is in her 14th season at ECU with a 580-311-1 record.
The Pirates are hitting .259 as a team and have five players hitting above the .300 mark. Marina Gusman-Brown, leads ECU in average (.423) and has a double, two triples and a home run in nine starts this season. Senior outfielder Charina Sumner has also gotten off to a solid start with a .366 average (15-for-41). The lefty-batter, leads the Pirates with 15 hits, three doubles, two triples and seven walks. Gusman-Brown and Sumner also lead ECU with four stolen bases a piece. Senior lefty-hitter, Christina Merrida has started all 13 games for ECU and is hitting .359, scoring a team-high 10 runs. Also posting impressive number is Priscilla Velasquez, a sophomore infielder, who has a .364 average (14-for-39) in eight starts.
On the mound, the ECU staff has a 2.10 ERA and has held opponents to a .186 batting average. Leading the Pirates is reigning Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, Toni Paisley who is 5-4 with a 1.20 ERA in 58.1 innings pitched. She has already racked up 81 strike outs to just 24 walks and is holding opposing teams to a measley .115 batting average. Faith Sutton is 1-3 on the season with a 4.15 ERA in 27.0 innings.
SIDENOTE: The ECU trip to Hawai'i is a homecoming for five of the Pirates' starters, senior Cristen Aona (Punahou), freshman Kai Clark (Kapolei), senior Gusman-Brown (Pearl City), senior Sumner (Kamehameha-Kapalama), and senior Kaui Tom (Kamehameha - Kapalama).
SERIES: This is the first meeting between UH and ECU.

The No. 1 ranked and defending NCAA Champions, Washington Huskies, picked up right where they left off last season, entering the Invitational with a 12-1 record. The Huskies have been dominant thus far, outscoring opponents 93-27 and holding their foes to a .182 batting average. Head coach Heather Tarr (205-104-1) is in her fifth season at the helm of the UW juggernaut.
On offense, junior shortstop Jenn Salling is having another stellar year, hitting .559 (19-for-34) with a stunning 21 runs scored and two doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBI thus far. She also leads the Huskies with five stolen bases. Niki Williams, a sophomore infielder, is hitting an even .500 (19-for-38) with 11 runs scored, five homers, and 16 RBI. But the player on everyone's mind is reigning National Player of the Year, pitcher Danielle Lawrie, who is hitting an even .400 (16-for-40) with 14 runs, two doubles and a team-highs with eight home runs, 19 RBI and a 1.050 slugging percentage.
On the mound, Lawrie has been lights out, posting a perfect 9-0 record with a save and five shut-outs in 10 appearances. She has a stingy 1.12 ERA in 56.0 innings pitched, is holding opponents to just a .112 batting average, and has struck out 102 batters with just five walks. Baily Harris is 3-1 this season with a 3.33 ERA in 21.0 innings.
SERIES: The 'Bows and Huskies have played nine times with UW winning seven of the games. Washington has won the last two games. The last meeting was a 3-2 loss on March 8 in the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament in 2008
