Rainbow Wahine team cheer.

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai`i softball team (11-6) sunk the Pirates of East Carolina, 10-0 in mercy-rule, five inning game at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. The 'Bows' Kaia Parnaby tossed a one-hit shut-out and got offensive support off three home runs by Kanani Pu`u-Warren, Jessica Iwata, and Traci Yoshikawa today at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Parnaby, a freshman southpaw pitcher, walked one and struck out four as she earned her third shut out of the season. It was her eighth complete game of the season.

Offensively, the 'Bows racked up 11 hits with four Rainbow Wahine getting multiple hits. Iwata, Gonzalez, Yoshikawa, and Aguirre all went 2-for-3.

The 'Bows got three runs on the board in the bottom of the second to jump out to ahead of ECU early. A one-out single to left by Yoshikawa started the rally. Alex Aguirre then smacked a double to the right-centefield gap put both runners in scoring position and a walk to Pu`u-Warren loaded the bases. After a strike out, Kelly Majam came through with a clutch single to right that drove in both Yoshikawa and Aguirre. Iwata followed with an RBI single of her own through the leftside of the infield.

UH extended its lead in the third on a three-run, opposite field bomb to right-center by Pu`u-Warren. It was her third home run of the season, and second in the tournament.

Hawaii then pulled away in the fourth, scoring four runs to go up, 10-0. Iwata started the rally with a solo home run to left-centerfield. Melissa Gonzalez kept things going with a sharp single back up the middle. Later, with two outs, Jenna Rodriguez got a infield single to second and then Yoshikawa launched her fourth home run of the season to clear the bases and put the game away.

The 'Bows will now battle defending NCAA Champions and current No.1, Washington Huskies in the last of the game of the night.
