Women’s Golf Concludes Juli Inkster Invite

Final Results

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team placed 13th at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, Tuesday, at the Almaden Country Club. The Rainbow Wahine carded their lowest round of the tournament, 311, to finish with a three-round 942 total (316-315-311).

For the first time this season, freshman Ka'ili Britos led UH, finishing at 12-over par (73-74-81=228). Britos sunk four birdies throughout the tournament and carded a collegiate career-low 73 in the first round. She began the day tied for fifth place but struggled a bit in the final round, posting an 81. Her career-low three-round score of 228 was good for a 20th place finish, also a best for Britos.

The remaining Rainbow Wahine ended the day on a bright note, each carding their best round of the tournament. Senior Corie Hou (77-82-77=236) tied for 48th, junior Brittany Bomar (86-79-75=240) tied for 59th, senior Erin Matsuoka (85-80-79=244) tied for 69th, and freshman Brigitte Baker (81-86-80=247) tied for 76th place.

Taking home the team title was No. 12 California with an 899 (301-301-297). Cal, the 2008 tournament team champion, was third going into the final round but took the lead from host San Jose State by firing a 297. The Golden Bears finished two shots ahead of second place UC Davis and four shots ahead of third place SJSU.

Individually, SJSU's Cristina Corpus took first at one-over par (72-71-74=217). For Corpus, this win comes just one week after winning the Fresno State Lexus Classic individual title with a 214, two-under par.

Up next, the Rainbow Wahine return home to host the 25th Annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, March 15 through 16, at the Kane'ohe Kilpper Golf Course.
