LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine tennis team dropped its third straight match with a 6-1 loss to No. 34 UNLV Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fell to 2-11 on the season.
The match was the final part of a schedule that saw UH play 11 straight road matches. The Rainbow Wahine went 2-9 during that stretch with five losses to ranked teams, including the No. 34 Rebels.
UNLV took the doubles point, however UH did get a win on the no. 1 court with the duo of
Sophie Kobuch and
Katarina Poljakova picking up an 8-4 win over Jana Albers and Rumyana Terzieva. In singles, UNLV claimed five of six matches. The Rainbow Wahine got a solid effort from junior
Natasha Zorec, who tallied the team's lone point with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Terzieva.
The Rainbow Wahine now return to Honolulu for their first home matches in more than two months. UH will host Air Force (10 a.m.) and Lewis & Clark (3 p.m.) on Saturday, March 20 at the UH Tennis Complex.
