Rainbow Sailors Place Fifth At Harbor Cup

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team finished in sixth place at the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup hosted by the Los Angeles Yacht Club, March 12-14.
 
A total of 10 college and academy teams from the East Coast to Hawai'i competed in the three-day regatta. Ten races were completed during the three days. UH finished fifth or higher in seven races with its best outing a second-place finish in the eighth race of the competition. USC won the regatta with 33 points, just ahead of Cal Maritime with 38 points. UH was 18 points off the pace with 51 points.
 
It was a change of pace for the Rainbows as the competed in Catalina 37 “big boats” chartered from the Long Beach Sailing Foundation. Sailing for the Rainbows were skipper William Petersen; Zachary Hester, Craig Schifferns, Hannah Tuson-Turner, Matthew Wenner, Jaclyn McLoughlin and Ryan Wild.

Next up for the Rainbows is the Saint Francis Invitational, April 3-4, hosted by Stanford University.
