Rainbow Wahine Golf In Sixth After First Day Of Thompson Invite

KANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team carded a two-round 618 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, Monday, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course. Competing in a 17-team field, the Rainbow Wahine are currently in sixth place, starting off the day with a first-round 313 then fighting hard to shave eight strokes off their score to card a second-round 305.
 
Leading UH is senior Corie Hou, tied for eighth at seven-over par (79-72=151). Hou was tied for 34th after her the first round, but moved up 26 places by firing a 72 in the second round. Hou is one of only five players to have shot an even-par during today's play.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are junior Brittany Bomar (79-76=155/T23rd), freshman Ka'ili Britos (78-79=157/T32nd), sophomore Erika Lundberg (77-81=158/T36th), and freshman Brigitte Baker (81-78=159/T40th). Participating as an individual is senior Erin Matsuoka (82-80=162/T55th).
 
Leading the team field is Nova Southeastern (302-301=603), three-strokes ahead of San Francisco and Rollins who are tied for third place. Individually, Louisa Lies of Fresno State leads at two-under par (66-76=142). Lies is the only player to have carded a round under-par, and will have a six-stroke lead over the competition going into the final round.
 
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the third and final round.
