Women’s Tennis Makes Return Home With Doubleheader

HONOLULU – The University of Hawaii women's tennis team will return home for a doubleheader this Saturday, March 20 against Air Force at 10:00 am and Lewis & Clark at 3:00 pm. This is the Rainbow Wahine first home match in a little more than two months.

UH will be more than ready to play on their home court after competing in 11 straight away matches in the past ten weeks. UH went 2-9 during that road stretch. Despite UH's 2-11 overall record, the Rainbow Wahine have been competitive in a number of matches while, six of team's 11 losses this year have come against ranked squads. The Rainbow Wahine will now play at home for the first time since opening the season with a pair of losses to then-No. 3 Cal (Jan. 14) and No. 67 Nevada (Jan. 17).

Air Force (13-3), who will be the Rainbow Wahine first opponent of the day, is coming off of a devastating loss to Samford to end a six-match winning streak. Lewis & Clark (7-5) is also looking to bounce back from a tough loss.

The Rainbow Wahine will rely on their lone senior Sophie Kobuch, who is 6-6 in singles play, and junior Natasha Zorec, who was the only player to come out victorious in singles play in UH's last match at No. 34 UNLV. Alyssa Nafarrete and Barbara Pinterova are on a three-match win streak in doubles play and are also coming off a doubles victory the Rebels on March 13.

Following Saturday's double-header, the Rainbow Wahine will host Chaminade on Saturday, March 27. The first serve will be at 10:00 am at the UH Tennis Complex.
