HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team won its third straight match with a 7-0 shutout of Chaminade Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 5-11 overall after going undefeated during a three-match home stand.
Chaminade (8-8) entered the match ranked No. 43 nationally in Division II but were overmatched by the streaking Rainbow Wahine. UH gave a dominating performance, sweeping the doubles competition, then winning on all six singles courts.
The Rainbow Wahine dropped just five combined games in doubles and won in straight sets on all six singles courts, including a 6-0, 6-0 win by
Alyssa Nafarrete on the No. 6 court. Meanwhile, senior
Sophie Kobuch and junior
Natasha Zorec continued their stellar play by each wining their third straight singles match.
The Rainbow Wahine will next play a trio of Western Athletic Conference matches when it faces Utah State (April 2), Fresno State (April 3) and Idaho (April 4) in San Jose, Calif.
