'Bows Fall At Cal State Fullerton 13-6

FULLERON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (12-11) fell to the Cal State Fullerton Titans (12-10) 13-6 at Goodwin Field Saturday. Jesse Moore (0-1) took the loss for UH while Kyle Mertins (3-1) got the win for the Titans.
 
Greg Garcia led the way for Hawai'i, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. David Freitas added a 2-for-4 game with three RBI and a run while Piikea Kitamura was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Christian Johnson also added a 2-for-3 game with a double.
 
The Rainbows jumped ahead in the third inning. After Freitas drove in Garcia to start the scoring, UH added three more runs, putting Hawai'i ahead 4-0. But Fullerton came right back, scoring four in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4.
 
The Titans then took the lead with a two-run fourth inning. But the 'Bows answered in the sixth as Freitas hit a two-run single, tying the game at 6-6.
 
Cal State Fullerton retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a single run. They then ran away with it in the bottom of the seventh, plating six runs to take the 13-6 victory.
 
The two teams close the series tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. (10 a.m. HST) game.
