FULLERON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (13-11) took the series finale over the Cal State Fullerton Titans (12-11) 10-7 at Goodwin Field Sunday.
Matt Sisto (3-3) got the victory while Tyler Pill (1-4) took the loss for CSUF.
Lenny Linsky also came in to pitch 2.2 scoreless innings and earn his fifth save of the season.
Hawai'i started the scoring in the top of the second, batting around while scoring five runs.
Pi'ikea Kitamura started it up, driving in Macdonald before Jeffery Van Doornum scored on an error by the Titans. Garcia then drove in a two-run single before Wong added an RBI-double, putting UH ahead 5-0.
Fullerton pulled it back to a 5-4 game, scoring two in the second, one in the third and another in the fourth. But the 'Bows jumped out again in the fifth. Freitas got it started with an RBI-double. Bennett then added a two-run double before later scoring on a passed ball, getting it to 9-4.
The Titans cut it back again with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, making it 9-6. UH added one more insurance run in the top of the seventh with CSUF cutting it back to 10-7 in the bottom of the seventh.
But Linsky then came in to settle the game in the seventh. After getting a force out and a strikeout to end the inning, he got through the rest of the game with just two hits, closing out the UH victory.
The Rainbows close the road trip with a game at San Diego tomorrow at 3 p.m. (noon HST).
