Final Results
DOVE CANYON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Anteater Invitational, Tuesday, at the Dove Canyon Golf Club. The Rainbow Wahine ended the tournament on a good note, shaving ten strokes off their second-round score to card a 310 and a 939 total (309-320-310).
UH was led by sophomore
Erika Lundberg who tied for 22nd place (231). Though opening with an 81 yesterday, Lundberg quickly moved up the standings by posting a 74 in the second round, her lowest of the season, followed by a final-round 76. She sunk seven birdies on the tournament and earned her second top-finish for UH, her first coming at the season's premiere tournament, the Giustina Memorial Classic, where she took 21st place.
Just one shot back of Lundberg was senior
Corie Hou who tied for 24th (74-84-74=232). Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were freshman
Ka'ili Britos (73-80-81=234/T28th), freshman
Brigitte Baker (81-82-79=242/T56th), and junior
Brittany Bomar (82-90-84=256/T76th).
Winning the team title was leader through all three rounds, San Diego State, with an 899 total (300-299-300). SDSU finished six shots ahead of second place San Francisco.
Individually, Kayla Mortellaro of Idaho took first place at one-over par (71-75-68=214). Mortellaro began the final round in third but was able to capture the lead by firing a 68, the lowest round of the tournament.
In three weeks, UH will host the 2010 WAC Championships, April 19 through 21, in Mesa, Ariz.
