SAN JOSE, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team won for the fifth time in its last six matches with a 4-2 decision over Idaho Sunday afternoon at the Spartan Tennis Complex. UH improved to 7-12 overall and 2-2 in the Western Athletic Conference.
A day after having their four-match win streak snapped by Fresno State, the Rainbow Wahine bounced back with a win over the Vandals by taking four of six courts in singles action. Doubles was not played due to weather.
UH got a pair of straight set wins by
Barbara Pinterova and
Sophie Kobuch on the No. 2 and 3 courts, respectively. Meanwhile,
Natasha Zorec (No. 5) and
Alyssa Nafarrete (No. 6) each gutted out three-set victories to clinch the win. Pinterova put forth the most impressive performance of the day, defeating Maria Perevoshchikova by a 6-0, 6-0 count.
The Rainbow Wahine continue their five-match road trip in Ruston, Louisiana where they will take on Boise State and Louisiana Tech in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 8.
