Josh Slaats earned his third Western Athletic Conference Verizon Wireless Pitcher of the Week award of the season Monday, for the week of March 29-April 4.
Slaats pitched 7.0 innings vs. Gonzaga (Apr. 2), allowing no runs on just one hit and one walk to get the victory. The junior also tied a career high with 10 strikeouts and has extended his home scoreless streak to 20.0 innings pitched. On the season, Slaats is now 3-1 with a 1.03 ERA, striking out 41 in 35.0 innings.
New Mexico State's Leo Aguirre was named the WAC Hitter of the Week.
Hawai'i starts conference play this week, hosting four-time defending WAC champion Fresno State from April 9-11.
