Women's Tennis Continues WAC Schedule On The Road

RUSTON, La. – The University of Hawaii women's tennis team heads to Louisiana for a pair of Western Athletic Conference matches this week. The Rainbow Wahine (7-12, 2-2 WAC) will face No. 44 Boise State on Thursday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. CT and Louisiana Tech later that day at 3:00 p.m. CT in their final regular-season road matches of the season.

The Rainbow Wahine have won five of their last six matches, including a pair of wins over Utah State and Idaho in San Jose, Calif., last weekend. With four matches remaining in the conference schedule, UH is still jockeying for the best possible seeding for the WAC Tournament later this month in Fresno, Calif.

UH will face a challenging road test with Louisiana Tech (6-13, 0-2 WAC) and a Boise State (14-5, 2-0 WAC) squad ranked No. 44 in the country. The Broncos boast a nationally ranked singles player in No. 38 Pitchittra Thongdach and the No. 38 doubles duo of Thongdach and Lauren Megale.

In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine will look to senior Sophie Kobuch and junior Natasha Zorec, both of whom have won five of their last six matches. Sophomore Barbara Pinterova has also been hot lately, with wins in four of her last five matches.

The Rainbow Wahine will return home for their last three matches of the regular season on Friday, April 16 against New Mexico State, Saturday, April 17 against San Jose State and Saturday, April 24 against HPU.
