Boise State Notes

BOISE, Idaho—The 25th-ranked University of Hawai'i softball team (30-11, 8-0 WAC) ends its week-long roadtrip at Boise State for a three-game, Western Athletic Conference series against the Broncos (15-22, 4-2 WAC). The two teams will play a single game on Friday, Apr. 9 at 3:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain Cove Softball Field. The 'Bows tied the school's single-season home run record at the end of the first game on freshman Jessica Iwata's first career grand slam. Then, in the second game, Rodriguez broke the record with a two-run blast over the leftfield fence which gave the 'Bows their 85th home run of the season. UH enters the weekend with 89 total homers under their collective belts. Freshman Kelly Majam tied the individual single-season home run record after she launched her 21st bomb in the first game.

Sophomore Stephanie Ricketts and freshman, Kaia Parnaby have become a formidable one-two punch in the pitching circle. Ricketts is 15-6 this season and 6-0 in the WAC with 17 complete games. Overall, she has tossed 14 complete games in 19 starts and has six shut-outs under her belt and brings a 2.38 ERA into this weekend's series. In 112.0 innings she has fanned 141 batters while walking just 30.

Head coach Bob Coolen is nearing yet another milestone in his stellar career at UH. His record in 19 seasons with the Rainbow Wahine is now 697-423-1. Overall, he is 769-516-1.
