Final Results
PALO ALTO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a 311 in the final round of the U.S. Intercollegiate, Tuesday, at the Stanford Golf Course. The Warriors shot a 936 three-round total (314-311-311) which earned them 20th place in the highly competitive tournament.
For the fourth time this season, sophomore #T.J. Kua# led UH finishing in a tie for 51st at 10-over par (74-75-71=220). Kua ended the tournament on a good note, carding his lowest round, 71, and sinking three of his six total birdies.
Taking the team title was no. 4 Oregon at one-under par (286-277-276=839). Oregon, in third place through the first two rounds, was able to pull ahead of second-round co-leaders Washington and San Diego State to finish three shots ahead of the pack.
Individually, Oregon's Daniel Miernicki took first by firing the lowest round of the tournament, 64, to finish at eight-under par (70-68-64=202). Along with the championship, Miernicki earned an automatic exemption in this year's Reno-Tahoe Open, a PGA Tour event taking place in July.
UH stays on the road to compete in the Western Intercollegiate, April 17 and 18, in Santa Cruz, Calif., their final tournament before the WAC Championships taking place in early May.
