Warrior Golf In 12th At Western Intercollegiate

Day 1 Results

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is in 12th place after Day 1 of the Western Intercollegiate, Saturday, at the Pasatiempo Golf Course. The Warriors carded rounds of 380 and 381 for a 761 total.

Leading UH is freshman Cory Oride at five-over par (72-73=145). Oride had five birdies on the day and will go into the final round tied for 25th.

One shot back of Oride is sophomore #T.J. Kua# (72-74=146) in a tie for 31st, followed by junior Kamden Brakel (76-83=149/T46th) who is one of only ten players to sink an eagle on the first day of the tournament.

Also competing for the Warriors are sophomore Jared Sawada (81-78=159/T74th), freshman Daniel Koge (79-83=162/T76th), and freshman Alex Chu (89-84=173/78th).

Leading the team field is no. 4 Oregon, carding an eight-under in the first round followed by an even-par in the second (342-350=692). The Ducks have a two-shot advantage over no. 5 UCLA going into the final round.

Individually, Eugene Wong of Oregon leads at five-under par (65-70=135)

The tournament continues Sunday with the third and final round.
