Women’s Tennis Blanks San Jose State, 7-0

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team concluded its regular-season Western Athletic Conference schedule Saturday afternoon with an emphatic 7-0 win over San Jose State at the UH Tennis Complex. UH improved to 10-13 overall and 5-3 in the WAC.

With the win UH guaranteed itself no less than the No. 4 seed when they head to Fresno, Calif., for the WAC Tournament beginning April 29. San Jose State, meanwhile, remained winless in the WAC (11-13, 0-6 WAC).

UH won two of three courts to take the doubles point and all six singles courts in the win. All six wins in singles came in straight sets. Barbara Pinterova and Alyssa Nafarrete remained their hot play in doubles by defeating Olivia Marshall and Jennifer Williams by an 8-1 count. The pair are 11-2 in their last 13 doubles matches. Sophie Kobuch led the way in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kerri Kummer on the No. 2 court. The senior has won three straight singles matches and eight of her last 11.
