LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team defeated Boise State, 4-1, in a pivotal Western Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center. UH improved to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in the WAC.

Two days after suffering an upset loss to New Mexico State, the No. 42 Rainbow Warriors bounced back with a big win over the No. 48 Broncos (17-10 overall, 4-2 WAC). With the win, UH stayed near the top of the WAC standings along Fresno State with just one conference loss, while Boise State fell to third.

The match was UH's last scheduled regular-season contest of the season. However, UH could still possibly play a make-up match against Idaho after having that league contest rained out in Honolulu two weeks ago. The WAC Tournament begins on April 30 in Fresno, Calif., with UH currently slotted as one of two top seeds, along with Fresno State.  Should UH not play Idaho, Fresno State will earn the regular-season title and top seed by virtue of its league winning percentage.

UH started the day with a big win in doubles. Leo Rosenberg and Jeremy Tweedt, clinched the point with a tight 9-7 win over Alex Bothe and Erik Sheldon. The Rainbow Warriors then took three of four completed singles matches to secure the win. Andreas Weber, Rosenberg and Tweedt all picked up straight set wins. Rosenberg moved to 15-1 in dual matches this season, bouncing back from his first loss on Thursday.
