Women’s Golf Remains In Second At WAC Champs

Round 2 Results

MESA, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team carded a 303 in the second round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships, Tuesday, at the Longbow Golf Club. Despite shaving two strokes off their first-round score, the Rainbow Wahine remain in second place with a 608 total (305-303).
 
Still leading UH is sophomore Erika Lundberg at seven-over par (149). Lundberg led the field after her first round of 72 but dropped slightly in the rankings with her second-round 77. She goes into the final day tied for fourth place.
 
Freshman Ka'ili Britos (77-73=150) and senior Corie Hou (79-72=151) are just one and two shots behind Lundberg respectively. Britos shaved four strokes off her first-round score to tie for sixth place, while Hou shaved off seven strokes to move up ten places and tie for tenth.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are freshman Brigitte Baker (77-81=158/T19th) and junior Brittany Bomar (79-83=162/T29th).
 
Individually, Kayla Mortellaro of Idaho, who began the day in a tie for 16th, took the lead by firing a 69, the only round under-par so far in the tournament (78-69=147).
 
Going into the final round, Wednesday, UH will chase San Jose State who has a two-shot advantage at 606 (304-302).
