Pinterova Named Verizon Wireless Player Of The Week

DENVER – University of Hawai`i's Barbara Pinterova has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for April 12-18. It is Pinterova's first-ever WAC honor.

Pinterova, a sophomore from Bratislava, Slovakia, went undefeated in both singles and doubles play as UH defeated WAC squads, New Mexico State and San Jose State. In singles, she defeated New Mexico State's Sophia Marks 7-6 (3), 6-4 and San Jose State's Olivia Marshall 6-1, 6-1. She has been victorious in six of her last ten matches in singles action. In doubles, Pinterova and partner Alyssa Nafarrete continued their four-match win streak with wins over Sophia Marks and Manon Sylvain of New Mexico State to clinch the win and Olivia Marshall and Jennifer Williams of San Jose State. The pair has won 11 of their last 13 contests and six of seven WAC match-ups.
 
Next up for Pinterova and the Rainbow Wahine is their final home match of the season against Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday, April 24. First serve is 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
